MPA Satellite by GN Netcom

A wireless headset system that does it all! We have recently re-introduced the very popular MPA Satellite from GN Netcom. Originally ahead of its time, this 900 MHz wireless headset system is now ready to take full advantage to the rapidly converging PC and Telephony worlds.

Designed to be compatible with all types of business phones, this wireless headset gives you the freedom to walk while you talk up to 150 feet from the base station with the high quality audio! With 40 digitally secured channels, the MPA Satellite uses automatic multi-channel scanning to ensure you always get the best interference-free, high-quality sound.

Connected to your computer's sound card via proper add-on components, the MPA Satellite is one of the most accurate systems for Voice Recognition applications. Furthermore, it packs some of the best sounding audio fidelity available for any telephone, computer, or telephony application.

Even though the MPA Satellite is an RF (Radio Frequency) system, it still has no problems with up to 20 systems in the same coverage area. Nobody else even comes close to doing this. Made for busy executives and their support staff, the MPA Satellite is a perfect solution for the office, so/ho, disability use, or even on the tradeshow floor. Use this anywhere for applications requiring professional high quality mobile audio with great noise cancellation.

Plantronics CS10

While expanding our Plantronics product lines, we took an instant liking to the Plantronics CS10. A 900 MHz cordless hands free telephone system, like the MPA Satellite, the Plantronics CS10 connects directly to single - or multi-line corded telephones through a base amplifier that cradles the remote unit. This base unit also has control for adjusting transmit volume, a headset stand for easy accessibility, and a pager to locate a misplaced remote unit. With a 150 foot radius range the CS10 has manually adjustable frequency channels for use of several units in a given location.

The only problem was how to hook it up to a PC. After extensive searching and testing we have put together the proper adapters necessary to make the connection. We call this the CCS (computer connectivity solution). One last problem we had was switching seamlessly between the computer and the telephone. We also found a piece that makes this work and we call it the CTS (computer telephone switch (this is not a plantronics product but for ease of understanding, we'll call it the CTS).

Once connected to the PC's sound card, we had high hopes the CS10 would deliver our pot of gold - inexpensive, long range, voice recognition and internet telephony.

While the unit did great for Voice over IP (VoIP) applications, it did not do as well for Voice Recognition. Perhaps the system uses some compression on the wireless hop, which negatively impacts its accuracy. It scored in the low 90s% for words accurately dictated using our standard testing techniques. Which means as far as we are concerned, it flunked the Voice Recognition test because we don't recommend anything under 95%. With that said, the Plantronics CS10 gives you the best bang for your buck for long-range Voice over IP (internet telephony)! By the way, it does great for teleconferencing too.

With that said, the Plantronics CS10 gives you the best bang for your buck for long-range Voice over IP (internet telephony)! With options such as remote call hangup / pickup (for telephones), it's incredibly small transmitter size (like a small pager), and the myriad of aftermarket headset additions (all plantronics mobile headsets work with the CS10), this unit is hot!! By the way, it does great for teleconferencing too.

Lastly, remember that the connections to make all of this work is available exclusively by us.

Emkay VR5615

The Emkay VR5615 can also do it all, VoIP, Telephony, and high accuracy with Voice Recognition. It is still our most popular wireless headset and with a price less than half that of the MPA Satellite you can understand why. While its VR accuracy is comparable to even the best wired mics, its wireless range is limited to a mere 25-30 feet.

Range limitations not withstanding, the Emkay VR5615 is well designed. It does everything from a headset that weighs only 2.5 oz! No battery packs or belt clips. Another beloved design feature is its included two small interchangeable rechargeable batteries. While one is in use on the headset, the other is ingeniously being recharged on the base station.

With its built-in computer / telephone switch capabilities, the Emkay VR5615 toggles back and forth from phone to PC at the push of a button! However, for telephony, the unit only works on a single analog phone line. Which means, unless you know of a compatible digital adapter that we have not thought of, do not try this on your office PBX. This system is best used in the home and SOHO environments or for offices that have private lines. Of course, if you just want it to work with your computer, it is a great buy.

The speaker quality however leaves something to be desired. With it's short range distance, we should have better quality audio. However, the speaker seems to pick up more static than one wants.

If your main application is voice recognition and you would like speaker capability on your headset, this product is a great buy. Even if you don't need the speaker capability and you will use it for voice recognition, you will certainly welcome the rechargeable batteries, the high accuracy (see our review of 05/29/00 ), and it's unique headset design with no wires.

Shure TCHS Wireless

If you've ever researched microphones for professional music applications, the Shure name is undoubtedly something you are familiar with. Shure microphones are used by some of the world's most famous artists for performance.

Shure's TCHS Wireless for PCs is no exception.

This headworn microphone incorporates an aerobic style model which is loved by many. Great for voice recognition with a range of 150 ft. or more. But since it has no earphone on the headset, it is not recommended for internet telephony applications. However, if you plan to run your audio output through separate speakers such as in audio/video teleconferencing applications or tradeshows, the Shure TCHS Wireless system is your best solution.

It is the most widely used wireless headset for professional voice recognition applications such as in healthcare and corporate functions. It's unique adjustable squelch setting allows the user to increase range (lower audio quality) or increase audio quality (decreased range).

So, if you need no nonsense professional audio for your computer whether it be for voice recognition, tradeshow floors, teleconferencing or other pro applications, Shure TCHS Wireless is it.
